Yep, just been to see Predators myself and enjoyed it muchly.
Some of the nods to the first one seemed a little forced, but on the whole it was good.

Thought Predators was pretty good, certainly better than 2, though not as good as some people seem to think it was.

Found it tough to accept Adrian Brodie and his fake macho voice as a tough guy, as opposed to the geeky besuited guy he's usually playing. Bit of a shame the way Larry Fishbourne's character went, thought that had some potential for firefight awesomeness.

Decent film, but doesn't compare to something like Aliens imo in terms of quality anyway.

The Hurt Locker - Great - ex-neighbours guy, big badda boom, cool crazy guy, big badda boom

Law Abiding Citizen - Great - sadness, calculated violence, gore and big badda boom

Walk The Line - Good - fairly long and slow paced, but J R Cash's life story is a combination of an uncomfortable battle against a drug/alcohol problem and a love story with him and June

The Wave - Good - bit contrived but interesting look at dictatorship/cult behaviour based off a real experiment done in a US school but with the story transferred to a German school for added Nazi edge

Teeth - Stupid - crap plot, stupid idea, every man in the world is apparently a rapist

Napoleon Dynamite - Good - finally got around to watching it, silly but amusing

Requiem for a Dream - Great - if you want to be disturbed, a real horror movie

Inception 9/10

You can't leave your seats for one moment of the 2 1/2 hours or you lose the plot totally. Nice to see an original blockbuster instead of the normal sequel or reboot that seems to be popular at the moment. And no f**king 3D!!!!!!!

Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus - Part Good, part forced silly - decent enough flick, but it seems to have become more Heath dedication, than movie. Visuals were beautiful for the most part but then seemed a bit ropey in a couple of places.

"funny people"

don't even bother to watch it, you will want your life back that you spent wasting on it. Great cast list, utterly wasted

OMG You have to watch Inception at an IMax cinema, I give it a 10/10 after seeing at the Bradford IMAX.

recently on vid:
Gran Torino: 8 or 9 out of the 10 - decent, and surprised wife who generally hates anythign action-esque or involving action stars like Clint
The Boat that Rocked: 6 or 7 out of 10 - how often is it that the film you watch is a completely different one to teh trailer, but actually better for once.

in the cinema:
Toy Story 3 - 4/10, based mainly on the Doctor porkchop opening. I mean, if I take teh children to see an animated short, I'd really like it to be dominated by slapstick humour, with well executed implausible set pieces. This was melancholy, you could see the bits where the part of the audience that was under 15 years disengaged.
A-team - 6/10, but 0/10 for first 10 minutes. NEver has a 1/2 decent film opened so terribly badly. Did it need a backstory, really, really need one prior to the Iraq op? Nope. As it was, it was sub-standard to a 48 minute long episode, which given the children adore the series 1 dvd that gets played to death at home, was always going to happen. Wife's biggest grief was "where was hannibal's silly disguise?", which was part of the point. They got impossible actions ok, broke the no deaths rule, but failed on the disguises.

I enjoyed Funny People. I wasn't watching it to laugh out loud and had the heads up about the plot.

Other films that i've watched very recently:

I love you, man- watchable bromance about a guy with no male friends who befriends another guy with hasn't really grown up (who is the best thing about the film). Goes on for 30 minutes more than it had to.

Toy Story 3- My 4yo son loved it. My 2yo daughter preferred tipping popcorn everwhere and running about. My wife really enjoyed it, I didn't get to see much of the film though.

Red Dragon- remake of 'Manhunter'. Manhunter is better, watch that instead/again.

Night at the Museum 1 and 2- I really enjoyed 1, 2 was ok.

I quite liked Funny People. Probably because I'm not a huge fan of Adam Sandler's other stuff, so wasn't hoping for more of the same.

Predators was good.

Always leave the kids at home when you go to the cinema*. Especially kids' films, which are rendered unwatchable due to some ADHD kid crawling around under the seats and screeching insanely, then having a temper tantrum because the orange juice is bad - Which would matter if the kid hadn't eaten six tonnes of E Numbers in all the blue and orange Pick & Mix snakes already and gone fucking mental. When will they learn that the Pick and Mix should just be nine types of Ritalin?

*Except if you have to go and see any Rugrats movies, in which case, leave yourself at home. Or take plenty of pins to stick in your eyes.

Where the wild things are - Great - I loved it, but then I loved Lost in Translation. I could see how it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea and I've no idea how it'd work as a kids movie.

Saw Inception last night, really good. Makes a change to see something which is genuinely intriguing to try and understand. I'm still not sure I fully comprehend bits of it and will defo be watching again when it's out to buy. Visually stunning. The only grr moment I had was that when the taxi is being peppered with automatic weapons, the doors are seemingly bulletproof and all you need is one 9mm pistol to tkae down everyone. James Bond style shootouts have no place in 'serious' films :(

Re-watched V for Vendetta the other day, still thoroughly enjoy it and it's an interesting take on a big brother-esque society. Hugo still makes me think of Agent Smith though even with teh mask on ;E

Toy Story 3 at the Imax Saturday, can't wait!
